5.8 – Identify and tag quick-count items in the PFEP database. A “Quick Count Instruction” replaces a fixed quantity on a Kanban card or label. It is used to reduce unnecessary material handling by allowing the material handler to more quickly fill a Kanban bin by eliminating counting. This should only be used for line material if there is no inventory transaction involved. Examples of Quick Count Instructions include “Fill It”, “Fill To Line” and “Handful”. In general, your goal should be to fill storage containers, so “Fill It” should be a common instruction.
